Chat Log?
-
Ok, I’m new to the WordPress forums, so sorry if this has already been posted. Some of my friends have been looking through my blog and they’re like “You should add a chat log.” In case you don’t know, a chat log is one of those IM type things where you just enter the name you want to show up and then everyone can talk back and forth, kind of like a chatroom I guess… So I’m wondering, does WordPress have an option to put in a chat log? I so, how do I add it? I wandered through WordPress help for like an hour, but couldn’t find anything…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The average time of response in a volunteer forum is 13 hours. When can I expect a cheque for my prompt attention to this matter?
Chats are not a blogging function. You can get a chatroom outside WP.com and link to it, but you can’t add any chatroom functionality more than what we’ve got with the meebo.com widget (which comes up on any cursory forum search).

Reaincoaster has done a good job of clarifying the situation above. In addition to what she suggests I am aware that there are 4 chatboxes that can be used on wordpress.com blogs. You will find brief reviews of them and relevant links here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/03/07/4-chatboxes-for-wordpress-com-blogs/There is also a theme called P2 that’s set up in a twitter like fashion that you may want to check out. Dashboard > Appearance > Themes However, if what you want is a chatroom, forum, wiki or a free social network from ning then you will have to set them it up elsewhere and link from your wordpress.com blog to it.
