Chateau theme – post dates bunched at top of screen

I’ve got a weird problem with Chateau. At the top left of the screen are a bunch of .post-date elements, one on top of another.

I thought this might have something to do with customisation, so I removed additional CSS formatting and went back to the theme fonts, but the dates are still there. I can’t work out how on earth they got there!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t see what you see. I am using Firefox 16.0.1.
    (1) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

    (2) Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

    (3) Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

If those don’t work for you please take a screenshot http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ and post it into your Media Library where Staff can examine it. Then return to this thread and post the file name for the screenshot and also post which browser and version of it you are using.

    Strange!

The dates are coming from the “Recent Posts” widget with the “Display post date?” option checked in the First Footer Widget Area on your Appearance → Widgets page. Oddly, the Chateau theme seems to be designed not to display post dates even if that option is checked.

In this case, since it is such an extremely specific set of circumstances that triggers the problem, I would recommend:

    1. Go to Appearance → Widgets → First Footer Widget Area
    3. Uncheck the “Display post date?” option
    3. Click the Save button

timethief, the dates are at the top left. They are really easy to spot in a logged out view. Example: http://cl.ly/KVJ4 (pretty weird!)

    Thanks, designsimply – that worked!
