I’m not sure if I ordered the domain mapping properly. I own http://www.iiimpact.com and want that mapped to my wordpress site which is currently http://iiimpactdotcom.wordpress.com/. Since support says it can take up to 72 hours to map, how can I tell if I did it correctly?

These are the instructions if you already have a domain that you registered elsewhere, and you want to map that domain to your WordPress.com blog.

Yes. I did it yesterday afternoon and it’s still not mapped correctly.

The name servers for iiimpact.com are still pointing to Godaddy and there does not seem to be any domain mapping in place for your domain name

Were you charged for the domain mapping? If so how much?

I wasn’t charged yet. I changed the name servers on godaddy yesterday to point to the wordpress servers.

No dollars == no domain mapping.

The name servers don’t seem to be pointing to WordPress.COM so you need to go back to Godaddy and fix that first – domain mapping should not be able to be done until the name servers are changed – you need to follow the instructions given above

Making progress. I went back to godaddy and there was a different place to put in the name servers once the domain was ‘launched.’ I had changed the nameservers under my account settings which was incorrect. Looks like it will take a couple of hours or so for that to go through.

If you do not pay WordPress.com for a domain mapping upgrade then the .wordpress.com blog will not be domain mapped to your domain. Are you clear on that?

Yes, I was able to map it, pay the fee etc. Got the confirmation emails and all, however iiimpact.com is still going to the godaddy site. Is that because it just needs time?

http://iiimpact.com/ loads fine for me – it can take 24 to 72 hours for the changes to reach the far corners of the internet – you will be the last to see the changes due to caching issues

The page loads fine, but it’s just the one image with the tan background. It should be mapping to this page: http://iiimpactdotcom.wordpress.com/

Looks like it’s doing the opposite of what I want it to do. I was someone who clicks on iiimpact.com to go to the wordpress site, not the other way around.

I found a place on goddady to forward iiimpact.com to wordpress. Maybe mapping wasn’t what I should have done.

Domain forwarding IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT – you want domain mapping per the instructions above – that gives you the iiimpact.com address in the browser window – forwarding will just dump it to your blog but your WordPress.COM address will still show – but if you mask it you will have other problems – but all your changes explain some of the strange diagnostics I saw trying to help you.

than take walk and let your changes be undone and the correct changes take place
