Checking on domain registration and mapping a subdomain through WordPress.com

Hi. My friend has added me as an administrator to help make some edits to her site.

    1. How do I check whether her domain was registered through WordPress.com (as opposed to just being hosted on it)? In the admin area, I clicked under domains -> registered domains -> nameservers and DNS and I’m guessing it was registered under WordPress.com, but can you help me verify this or show me how to?

    2. We are looking to add a subdomain, edventures.sarahklee.com. I found the guide on adding a subdomain if the domain name was registered with another registrar. But how do we do it if it’s registered through WordPress.com? Do I add new DNS record? Or do I go to Add Domain -> Map a new domain?

    Thanks

    KT

    http://sarahklee.com/ is registered with WordPress.COM

    http://www.whois.com/whois/sarahklee.com

Adding a sub-domain should work the same no matter where the name is registered

PS – the reason the instructions are for a site not at WordPress.COM is that usually mapping a sub-domain is usually done when someone has an existing site and wants to add a blog to the site and make it part of the existing site address – have seen several plain html sites that added a blog hosted here using the map sub-domain so the URL of the blog becomes part of their regular domain

Ok, can someone please help me?

I’m trying to redirect my wordpress site (www.pedicuresimone.wordpress.com) to the domain http://www.pedicuresimone.nl.

I already paid for the package but I just can’t get it to work. I tried to change the name servers at my hosting as well.. But I just can’t figure it out :(

Hi KT, if you need any further help mapping the subdomain you mentioned, please let me know. :) When your domain is registered at WordPress.com and you want to map the subdomain to another WordPress.com site, you can follow the regular Instructions for Mapping Subdomains.

@pedicuresimone — Please contact us directly for help mapping your domain pedicuresimone.nl to your site. That way we can keep your questions separate from the original request for help in this forum thread. You can also contact your domain registrar (where you purchased the domain) for assistance changing the domain’s name servers.
