Checking spam

    1. Is there any way I can check out the 6 supposedly Spam comments that I’m being told Akismet has caught. 2. How can I ensure that all comments from friends reach me?
    I have a friend (who blogs with another site, Wiblog) who has posted comment twice but neither has come through. Another friend (with a WordPress blog) posted a trial comment which reached me fine. I have no other comments showing up, which may mean that they are all Spam – but I would like to check and see. Help appreciated – thanks!

    Help is always close at hand when you use the forum search box. There you will find the answer to your questions.

    Dashboard -> Comments -> Akismet.

    TT, even I couldn’t have found that by searching.

    Not a problem. Right idea but wrong thread.

    Sorry, still confused. Did try the search boxes – Forum and FAQ but did not find what I was looking for.

    drmike: If Dashboard -> Comments -> Akismet is a suggestion to try the only message I have (under the heading Akisment Spam) is:
    Akismet has caught 6 spam for you since you first installed it. You have no spam currently in the queue. Must be your lucky day. :)

    I checked almost daily but the figures under Awaiting Moderation and Akisment Spam have always been 0. I dont want Spam – but it would be good to know where I can see what has been caught in case it isnt!

    Are you saying I am on the wrong thread? Assumed that ‘support’ was the right place.

    Please – I am not a computer genius so simple answers! (and sorry if I have missed the obvious solution – I am fairly new round here. Thanks

    Strange. We used to have a problem where Akismet wasn’t showing the spam, but I thought it had been fixed. It will not show any spam on posts more than 30 days old, though. But if I were you I’d send a feedback, since you’re new and don’t have any posts that old.

    Thanks Raincoaster. May well send Feedback as you suggest, but worth waiting here just a little longer just in case someone comes up with the answer for me.

    It may have been earlier on as well. The spam queue gets emptied automattically every so often if you ignore it.

    …but I wasnt aware I had any spam to have been deleted. The counter has always shown 0.

    If you are worried your not getting spam don’t worry there will be plenty soon enough! If Akismet only caught 6 your’s must be a new account.

    I have the same problem. The Akismet counter goes steadily up (30 so far) but only a few show up in the Akismet queue (like 5 so far). And today I tried to mark a legitimate post that did show up in the queue as not-spam and Akismet just happily ate it, so now it’s completely unrecoverable.

    With it completely gone, I don’t think anything can be done now though.
