Child page not showing up on Parent page tab.

I am trying to add a child page to an existing page.

When I check the blog and select the page tab right under the header, the new child page doesn’t show as an option that can be selected.

The parent page tab (Notices) at the top of the page is set up as a link to one of my categories. Specifically the Important Notices category.

What I want to see is the new page (Privacy & Disclosure) show up as an option that visitors can choose to view, along with the articles in the Important Notices category.

I tried adding the Pages widget as suggested in this forum post: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-display-subcategories-on-parent-pages?replies=10
But that didn’t work. The new page shows up within the pages widget, but not when I select the Notices tab at the top of the page.

Am I missing something? Or will that not work with the Vigilance theme?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Your category “page” is a dynamic page (like your main posts page) displaying some posts. It cannot possibly display a link to the child page; that’s only possible on a static page.

Just drag the Pages widget higher up the sidebar, so that the child page tab will be more readily noticeable.

    @ manvelfireblog
You could also make a prominent link to your “Privacy & Disclosure” page on the “Notices” pages.

    Ok, thank you panaghoitisadam.

I was afraid that I would get an answer similar to that.

I was trying to avoid having 2 rows of page tabs at the top, but that may not be possible either. I don’t really want the Page widget on the right anyway, so I’ll probably just give the Privacy & Disclosure it’s own tab at the top of the page and remove the page widget.

    Thanks again though!

    @ 1tess

I’ll play around with that and see what happens.

    Thank you.

@manvelfireblog: You’re welcome. Sorry the answer isn’t what you were hoping for.

@Tess: What you’re suggesting can’t be done: the “Notices” tab is no longer a static page, it’s a link to a category page (apparently by use of my page-as-external-link trick).
