Child pages not appearing beneath parent page
-
I need some help – I added child pages to my original parent pages on my blog, expecting the hierarchy to work. It did not. Can anyone help with this? Not sure if there’s something I’ve missed – I assigned each “child” a parent page, and even assigned numbers for the hierarchy rather than letting it default to alphabetical.
Thanks for any help!

Check on the “Edit Pages” screen (click “edit” under “Pages” on the Dashboard), I do that with a couple pages on my blog and that’s where they show up like that.

@dcrage: Often you cannot give a relevant answer before you see the blog in question.
@bessieviola: Please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here – or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know. We cannot answer without that.
What exactly “didn’t work”? Are you talking about the header or the sidebar?

I am having the same problem. Blog is TheWickedWord. On the my Work page none of the child pages I set up are showing?

Please paste the blog URL when asking questions – like that:
http://thewickedword.wordpress.com/
If you’re talking about that blog, you don’t seem to have any published subpages: since you’ve got the Pages widget, they would show up in your sidebar (indented under their parent).
Anyway, if you mean you want links to child pages in the parent page itself, there are only three themes that do that automatically. In all other themes you have to write those links yourself.

Actually, there are 4 themes:

(thanks for providing the link) -
is there any chance for to import an entirely external theme and use it, if yes where would i find any themes ?
-
Not with wordpress.com. We can use only the themes offered under dashboard > appearance > themes
I know nothing about CSS, but it might be possible to do???
It’s easy to code links to the child pages, though. -

You write them just as you would any other link on your blog. Either use the visual editor, or HTML code. It will look something like this:
<a href="http://YOUR_BLOG_NAME.wordpress.com/MAIN_PAGE_NAME-page/CHILD_PAGE_NAME-page/">CHILD_PAGE_NAME</a> -
Hi
I am having the same problem, and I am about to check the different themes that you suggested. However, I’d prefer to stick with what we are using now. Is it possible to use code to set them up manually in other themes? My blog is http://litcebrary.wordpress.comI am trying to make child pages under the Subject_Search page.
Thanks

As I said above, you can manually add links to child pages in their parent page. The are essentially ordinary links that just lead readers to another page on your blog rather than to another blog or site. You can write links in any theme.
You can also use a pages widget in your sidebar. In Andreas09, the list of pages does not show indents to indicate that they are child pages, but there is a workaround for that problem.

Try doing what 1tess stated above, cause those are the only ways you going to be able to show the child pages.

Since I had the same problem, I want to thank those of you who gave answers . . . really appreciate it!!–Shelley

can you direct me to any blog where the page hierarchy is properly displayed? I seem to have the same issue, but I may be able to help myself through it if I see how it is properly implemented on some other blog.

On my site, the Fallingwater in Second Life page is the parent of Fallingwater – How It Came To Be Virtual. ( thought I set those attributes properly)
Could anyone help me please?
