Chinese characters appear as “?” (symbols)
-
Hi, I need help!
I realise the chinese characters that I type in my post do not appear as they are, but instead appear as “?”. These words are common words and they look fine when I write in code, but once I publish the post, the words don’t seem to appear. Can someone tell me how to rectify this problem once and for all such that future posts will not have the same problem?Thank you so much!

If http://ajollyaffair.wordpress.com/ is your blog, the entire front page is fine for me (FF 2.0.0.5 and Konqueror on Fedora Core 7). Sorry, can’t check in IE.
What browser and OS are you using (I’m guessing from one of your posts, you’re on a Mac)?

Some special letters and characters, that are foreign to the English language, are not supported by WordPress at the moment. That might be the reason in this case?
However, it is not assumed, that the problem should be this widespread?
I believe, that WordPress is working on this issue. But if the difficulties persist, we will have to use words that do not have these letters or characters in them. I realise that is difficult in Chinese. :-D
You have my sympathy….

Looks fine to me in Firefox and IE as well, but perhaps I’m not sure which symbols you mean.
It might be similar to a problem that’s come up before in the past, though; if it continues you might need to contact support. They’re closed over the weekend, but when they open again on monday you can contact them through http://wordpress.com/contact-support/
This is a previous thread on it:

If you use Windows Live Writer to write and publish your posts, then install the new version (Beta 3) and then update your weblog settings in it. It helps. Besides, new WLW comes not only in English but downloads and installs automatically in other languages (depending, I guess on the default language of your computer). Check if it has Chinese, but since it has Russian and many other languages I suppose Chinese should be there too).
