Chinese Translations for "Continue Reading"
-
Some strings of “continue reading” seem not to be complete. They’ve be added via https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/zh-tw/default/?filters%5Bterm%5D=continue+reading
Is there some kind of approval needed?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
A validator for the language will have to approve those translations before they’ll become live on your site, yes. The validators for the different languages are unpaid volunteers who do this in their free time, so please be patient while waiting for someone to get to these translations.
-
Thanks for the reply.
Will the validators be automatically informed of the new submissions, or if I need to contact themselves directly?
Cheers.

Validators are not informed automatically, no, but those in the active languages do check on a regular basis. I know many languages do form their own communities, so if that’s the case with the Chinese locale and you have an easy way to contact the validators, you can certainly do so.
I’ve also asked a colleague who speaks the language to check if they’re able to validate these translations for you, but they might not see my message until they start work again on Monday.

Thanks!
Seems the changes have been approved. How long will it take to show up on the website?
-
Hi @ccphlnet, yup, someone went through and approved those for you. Your language is still at 77%, so it may take a few more strings before those will be deployed:
You can see here strings are usually deployed when there are around 200 new strings validated.
If you’re interested in helping with validation, we have some information here:

How can I find out how many new strings are needed to reach the 200 figure for a particular language?
BTW, I just found out actually I should be working on zh-hk instead of zh-tw… Anyway the zh-hk validator was nice enough to have approved the same strings already.
Cheers.

There’s no way to see that, unfortunately. Our developers have tools that alert them once there’s a sufficient number of approved translations, but that information does not appear anywhere on the translation site itself.
Ultimately it’s best, if you have time, to just continue translating. You’re trying to get specific strings approved so they show correctly on your site, yes, but by contributing additional translations you’ll be helping out other users of the same language as well, so everyone wins in the end :)

Well understood, but it is kind of a big difference, just saying, if there are only 30 strings remaining, versus 170 strings… : )
Nice weekend.

I understand. Unfortunately there’s no way to see that info, not even for me, else I’d gladly share it :)
