choice between 2 languages
-
I would like to let my followers choose between 2 languages, Dutch or English. Is there a button so you can choose the Dutch or English version?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, you could create two separate sites and add a link to each language version using a Text Widget. You can see an example of someone who’s done that here:
They have links to the Spanish and French versions at the top right. Could this work for your needs?

Dear Kathryn,
Thank you for your reply and this will help me. I have a Basketdelight.org as well which is still empty. I could use this for the UK version and set the widget on the NL site.
I’ll need some help to do this, but that can be arranged.Thank you very much!
With Kind regards,

Dear Katrhryn,
I’m trying to get the text widget voor the separate site. Can you tell me which one I have to use ? I thank you in advance.
Kind regards,

Hi there, there’s only one text widget – you can read more about how to use it here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
If you’re linking to another language-version of your site, you could add an HTML link like this:
<a href="http://yourothersite.com">English</a>Adjust the link and text as needed.
Just let me know if this isn’t what you’re trying to do – thanks!

Thank you Kathryn,
I’ll pas this through someone who knows how to do this. Somehow I can’t get it wright. Thanks for your support.

Let me know how it goes. If you also wanted to provide me with the link and wording you’d like, I could try adding the text widget for you.
-
That would be great Kathryn. Let me sort out some other things first. I’ll get back to you. Thanks for the great gesture.

Dear Kathryn,
I made a second version of my blog http://basketdelights.nl
I would like to connect http://basketdelights.org and make an English version. Before I start to translate all the posts I would like to see if the widget works. This the link of the 2nd version: http://basketdelights.org
Thank you very much!

Sure, I added a text widget for you so you can see what it looks like. Right now it’s at the top of your sidebar, but you can move it to whatever position you like. You can also change the wording as you like.
Here’s a screenshot:
http://cl.ly/image/2H1i11404140I also noticed that you had a Pages widget that isn’t working correctly – http://cl.ly/image/3x0c2r0X3Q28
The “Exclude” field only takes page ID numbers, not links. To find the page ID just look in the URL for the number when you’re editing the page. For example, this is the URL of the About Me page:
https://basketdelights.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=175&action=edit
So 175 is the page ID number, and the number you’d put into the widget to exclude it.
Just let me know if you need further help.

Dear Kathryn,
This is great! Thank you so much for your help. This is exactly what I meant and thank you for explaining the ‘mistake’.
I’ll save the text widget, so I can launch the English site when all translations are done.
Kind regards!
