choose photos for previews on main page instead of awful automatic select/crop

  Hello,
  I have posted numerous times in the forums over the past year and never received a response to the same question: I am using Oxygen theme and I have been able to figure out how to customize everything except the preview photos of each post that appear on the main page. It seems to be a matter of luck as to whatever photo from the post the theme chooses. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it crops photos in awful, and at times inappropriate way that I have no control over. You can see examples of this on my blog if you scroll down to older posts.   I haven’t been able to figure this out no matter how hard I’ve tried, but there MUST be a way, this seems like a pretty basic & important feature. I understand you are very busy, but can someone please help me?!!

  Hi Jaclyn,

  That photo above the blog post on the main page is actually controlled by the featured image for the post. Featured images are described in detail here:

  Featured Images

  This is described on the theme info page here (under “Featured Images”):

  http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/

  Just make sure you set a featured image that is at least 470 px wide, and you should be all set!
