choosing a theme

    Hi,
I have been looking through many themes and am having difficulty finding one that works for what I need.
Ideally my theme would have a Grid of 6-8 images on the first page which when you scroll over them they become darker, and they would be clickable and take you to other pages.
From what I have seen, this is a common thing regarding Blogs, however, I do not want it to say (time and date on it) like a blog post does.

Also, I wants a large initial image, something that changes to multiple other images if possible like the “Creative Portfolio” theme does.

I looked at the Prosperity theme, but it looks like you can only have a max grid size of 3 pictures on the front page and I need more than that.

Even doing a sticky post with a featured image seems to leave a visible date stamp which I do not want.

The site is to convey medical information and not be a blog.

Please let me know if you know of any themes that might work.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Good Morning –

No worries. Let’s get this sorted.

From what I have seen, this is a common thing regarding Blogs, however, I do not want it to say (time and date on it) like a blog post does.

This is typically a setting that can be turned off. I wouldn’t rule out a theme based on what the preview or demo shows you regarding publication date.

, I wants a large initial image, something that changes to multiple other images if possible like the “Creative Portfolio” theme does.

There are themes with a post slider built in to the header space. You can also add a slideshow on to any post or page too.

I looked at the Prosperity theme, but it looks like you can only have a max grid size of 3 pictures on the front page and I need more than that.

Looking at that theme I can see what you mean about the Recent News section. https://wordpress.com/theme/prosperity

https://wordpress.com/theme/ixion is a really nice theme for websites and businesses. You may also like https://wordpress.com/theme/dyad-2/

I also want to mention that the Prosperity theme is a premium theme. So, if you decide to go that route you’d want to use our premium plan because then the theme would be included. See here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

the site i need help with is my premium site, not the neurology one.

  • Hi Richard,

Your reply above simply repeated the questions from your original post, and my colleague’s answers to them. That makes it very difficult to know what you actually need help with. If you want to quote something from a previous reply, please use the Quote button on the forums text box to distinguish it from the new questions you’re asking.

    1. How do you shut off the date stamp on these

Any theme that supports our Content Options feature should have this ability built in. Your current theme at https://richardlrabinmd.wordpress.com/ has this option, and it’s already set to have post dates hidden. That option is found at My Site ->Design ->Customize ->Content Options.

On themes that don’t have this setting you can hide it using custom CSS code on your Premium Plan site, but we can only help you with the code you’d need after you’ve settled on a theme, as the exact code needed would depend on the specific theme.

    2. How do you make a slideshow?

On themes that support this feature this is done either by setting certain posts as sticky, or else by applying a special tag to the posts, but again, this will depend on which theme you choose.

You can find all themes that support featured content here:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/post-slider/

You can add an image-only slideshow into the content of a post or page by using our media gallery feature:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/gallery/

Also note that both your Personal and Premium plans give you access to live chat support. It might be easier for us discuss exactly what you’re looking for and make recommendations there:
