Choosing image for publicizing
-
I would say to use what you feel most comfortable with. In certain themes you are able to set a featured image, which will usually be the image that Facebook decides to pull for the thumbnails. Unfortunately, the Eventbrite-Single theme does not have that feature, so Facebook will just choose one of the images in the post.
We are aware that this is a common problem and it’s currently being investigated by our team. Users also have trouble getting the thumbnails to work correctly for shared YouTube videos and other non-WordPress.com media, so it’s possible that it’s a problem on Facebook’s end. It might be a good idea to make a post on the Facebook Help Community forums.

I’ve made a report and post but I’ll do it again. Just frustrating because they are choosing the image, not me. Does it make a difference on how many people see my FB post if I do it myself through Facebook versus publicizing through my blog?

Hi there,
I don’t think there would be a big difference. It should be the same considering the end result would be the same.
I’m sorry about this. I know it can be frustrating. We are working on it, so we’ll let you know once we are able to definitively give you an answer. :)

Hi there. We had been talking about the reasons my pictures being chosen by Facebook when I publicize have a grey line across the bottom when posted on my Facebook page. This still happens every single time. I’ve started not using the publicize feature and uploading the post on my own, which is kind of a bummer because the use of that feature is so nice.
Second I had told you in the past that every once in a while Facebook has posted a random image not even in my post. Well this happened again this morning. I uploaded the screenshot to my media. If you take a look you can see that the random food picture is not even in my post. I can’t even erase it now because people have commented under the post so kind of bummed. Please help.

Hi there,
I looked into the post and it does look like it picked up an Instagram image on your site instead of the image in the post. I put the post into the Facebook debug tool and found that the image in your post is too small. They need an image that is at least 200 by 200 pixels. Please try that next time and let Facebook know if they are still not pulling the right image. I have provided you a link to the Object Debugger here:
Unfortunately, sometimes Facebook ignores the information we send and chooses a different image to put with your post. It sounds like that’s what is happening with your blog. In cases like that, there’s nothing we can do — it’s up to Facebook to select the images in the end.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

So frustrating. I don’t understand why they don’t just omit a picture all together. What makes sense about using a random picture?
I have tried to contact Facebook multiple times but have not heard back…
