Choosing plan

  Hi,
  I am about to choose my plan. Just want to clarify something before. We are a glamping Surfcamp based in the south West of France. We offer unique accommodations (tipis in the middle of the forest). We are going to have some of our income from websites like booking, expedia, airbnb. But we also are planning to take direct reservations from our website we are building, probably using stripe or a similar service. I see the first plan includes a section ‘payments’ stating ‘Accept one-time, monthly, or annual payments on your website.’ . Does that mean choosing one of the first three plan we will be able to collect payment directly on the website?

  Hi there,

  Yes it is possible to use the Payments Block to offer one-time payments on your site. You could use this to accept payment for your bookings, but I should clarify up front that we do not have “bookings” functionality built in on WordPress.com. The block was intended primarily for simple “product-based” transactions and is too simple to handle the display of a calendar with options to book.

  If you are willing to handle the booking portion of the transaction manually, you could at the end use this block to accept payment, but instead you may want to consider our WordPress.com Business Plan and then adding the free WooCommerce plugin to add eCommerce functionality to your site. This would allow you to install this bookings plugin for WordPress so that bookings would be handled more easily on your website directly: https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-bookings/

  If cost is an issue another option I’ve seen site owners use is to sign up with a service that offers bookings like Squareup, which will set you up with a “bookings page” that they host. You can use this to set up a page on your WordPress site offering the product (a teepee in your example) with a button like “book now” that when clicked with take visitors to the Squareup site where they can make their reservation and pay, and then they would be returned to your WordPress site after the purchase.
