Choosing to connect or transfer domain

    I am still with my current provider and I would like to build a website first then transfer my domain over, can I not do that? Or do I have to do this step first (choose to connect or transfer domain in order to start building your website)

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    You can get your site set up here before switching your domain over!

    When you sign up for a new site, we give you a free subdomain (*.wordpress.com) that you can use to start building your new site.

    Here’s a guide that will help you migrate your site to WordPress.com:

    Note that you will need a paid plan when you want to connect your domain to the site. You can compare the different plan levels here:
