choosing web hosting service for non-geeks?

  I have looked at the hosting services on the wordpress.org pages…two have almost the same control panel, a couple seem to assume I am a linux geek…any recommendations for the non-geek on going self-hosted and whom to choose?

  You’re best off asking the wp.org support forums. We don’t deal with hosting here. wp.com is our host.

  it’s scary how old and unresolved the hosting questions are there…thanks anyway.
