Choosing WordPress for customised domain and website
-
I have a hosting service with 1and1 for a website I am busy constructing and also have a registered domain, but upon consideration think that WordPress may be much more user friendly for me (I already have a wordpress blog). I need to speak to someone briefly to allow me to make this decision and whether the upgrade to a customised domain will provide me with what I need, e,g e-commerce functionlity and domain specific emails?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Do you have a particular question. I’ve hosted a site at 1&1 and found that for just blogging, I’m much happier using the simplicity – though somewhat constrained – WP environment. If you want to really focus on content then my suggestion is WP entirely.

Thanks mikedariano,
My question is whether the upgrade for $99 WP Pro Bundle will satisfy my website needs regarding:
1. Support from WP (phone if required as I am pretty stupid when it comes to setting up my own stuff)?
2. setting up domain specific emails? And how many can I set up with my customised domain name?
3. Does WP customised website allow for e-commerce functionality, e.g. paypal?
4. Finally, I read your initial response as saying that WP is superior to 1&1 when it comes to more content, video posting, frequent updates and postings etc? please confirm. -
1. There is no phone support
3. eCommerce is not permitted. There is a PayPal donate button available.
I ‘ll leave the other questions to others.

1) there is no phone support from WordPress.com staff at all.
3) nope, ecommerce is simply not possible here. The code is stripped out for security purposes.
4) If you wish to create and disseminate original content, WordPress.com is a better choice overall. It is better for SEO as well.

4) What I meant was that it seems easier to create, update, choose themes, buy domains, embed content straight from WP and not worry about installing WP.com, managing another service, etc.

raincoaster’s answer is 100% correct. Her experience with both WordPress.com and WordPress.org is extensive and her support is high value support.
