Hi Saqib,
Thanks for reporting this issue. I reported this to our developers so they can investigate the problem with the browser extension. I’m sorry for the inconvenience!
In the meantime, you may want to check out some of the other blogging apps we offer: Apps for WordPress.com
If you’re sharing a post that was originally published on WordPress.com, you can also use our reblog feature for that: Reblogs
Or you can head to WordPress.com and click on “New Post” to write a new post there.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help, and thanks again for letting us know about this!

Hi Saqib,
Thanks for your patience while our team investigated this. Our developers launched a fix for the Chrome extension — if it still isn’t working for you, please let me know!

Hi Rachel,
I updated to the new Chrome WordPress Extension. It is very buggy. The key is “Blog This” functionality is not working correctly either. It just brings up a blank WordPress Post Editor. In the past, when it used to work, it would copy the selected text and the URL of the website into the new post. It used to work really nicely.

Yeah, I just tried to use it and had this problem too. That is so weird! It’s too bad, because I saw a really cool video on the web and wanted to write about it. Very sad. Please fix this? Thank you!

Our team has launched a new bookmarklet you might be interested in. With that bookmarket, you can select text on a site, click the bookmark, and a new post will be started with the selected text and a link to the site.
You can find that bookmarket in the new post editor, at the bottom of the sidebar. There currently aren’t plans to merge that new bookmarklet back into the Chrome extension, but you can use the bookmarklet instead of the extension if you’d like to use that feature. :)

Hi Saqib,
Sorry, my instructions weren’t clear enough. The bookmarklet is in the “Advanced Settings” section in the new post editor, at the bottom of that section. It looks like this: https://cloudup.com/ccvKXDlU742
