CHRONICLE theme – Showcase IMG Size Alteration

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

    I am trying to change the size of the showcase images on the chronicle theme. I’d like these featured showcase images to be unique sizes and not one standard size, as they are at present. I have located these ‘posts’ on the CSS and have tried altering the img sizes but nothing is working.

    Is there something I am missing?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    The images in this section are limited by the theme to 300 by 200px so making them any larger will end up distorting the images. What sort of sizes would you like? If you could post the CSS you’ve tried already that would be helpful too.

    hi there! thank you so much for getting back to me!
    if there are these limitations, i don’t mind keeping somewhat in line with the theme, but i def want them varied. by 100px or so.
    250 by 150
    300 by 200
    and say 350 by 400 for example…
    there is no way to increase that ‘showcase’ space on the web page?

    below is an example of the css. ive tried altering class=thumbnail, crop=1, the obvious width and height and additionally included image-width & image-height… but no dice.

    <div class="item item-1">
    				<a style='background-image: url("https://goldengetaway.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/birthday-boy-e1410972492969.jpg?w=300&h=200&crop=1");' class="thumbnail" href="https://goldengetaway.wordpress.com/2014/08/13/birthday-boy-retreat/"></a>
    				<h2><a href="https://goldengetaway.wordpress.com/2014/08/13/birthday-boy-retreat/">BIRTHDAY BOY RETREAT</a></h2>

    </div>

    Your site will look a bit strange if all those images are different sizes, especially as they won’t fit all the way across the width of the content area.

    The showcase section size can be changed but as the images can’t be made larger you’ll just have giant borders around it.

    You’ve posted the theme’s HTML code, can you also post the CSS declarations that you were using too?

    Please have a look at the attached link. This is what we are trying to achieve, but if it is impossible due to the borders around images then never mind.

    This also leads to another question. We initially registered our blog with blog.com but their service was TERRIBLE so we found the best platform, wordpress… The problem here is I am trying to transfer our domain http://www.thegoldengetaway.com to wordpress but blog.com wont send me the EPP code for the url. What can I do?

    Unfortunately that won’t be possible as the images are limited to a maximum of 200px tall, sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

    no worries. to get the previous page to look like that took ten hours using a dongle in the middle of the jungle with what may be the only IT guy here in belize.
    Re the second question, do you have any idea how do deal with domain changes? this is all so foreign to me.
    Again, many many many thanks for your help.

    I’m no expert but if you read through the domain transfer support page it should point you in the right direction.
