Chronicle WordPress Theme.
-
I am interested in purchasing the Chronicle WordPress Theme for an already existing blog I have, but I do not want this Chronicle WordPress Theme to start up until I am ready for it to launch. I want to take the time to learn this new Chronicle WordPress Theme, set it up as I desire, then launch it. I don’t want my current blog theme to be down because I click “purchase” for the new Chronicle WordPress Theme. Is This possible? Please let me know if this can be done.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Assuming you have a custom domain for the site in question – like theobamacrat.com – you could set up a second site and purchase Chronicle for that site.
You could import your content from the original site into the new one.
Once you have things set up as you like and you’re ready to go live, you could then ask staff to help you move your domain mapping upgrade to the new site instead of the old.

If I were to do as you suggest, would I lose my current visit totals and be starting totally over from the beginning? Would I have the same followers following me and me following them as I have now? I like this theme but this set up sounds a bit complicated and wordpress should just allow you the option of a live launch when you’re ready, and not the second you click purchase.
It would be easier for us bloggers and it would save wordpress the time of staff helping me move my domain mapping upgrade to the new site .
Thank you kindly for your helpful information.

I agree that it’s not an ideal scenario and it would be really cool if there were an easier way!

I think staff can transfer followers and stats from one WordPress.com site to another.
There’s another alternative route I can think of – you could set up your test site as you’d like. When it’s ready, make your original site private temporarily while you transfer Chronicle to it (you can do this yourself under Store > My Upgrades) and copy over any theme-specific settings. Then, make it public again when you’re done.
