Hello @ognik
Both your WordPress.COM sites: https://newlakecottage.wordpress.com/ and https://coffeefoxstories.wordpress.com/ are showing posts from newest down to the oldest. Did you resolve this yourself?Let us know… Thanks! 🙂

It because you have pinned your old post posted on ‘JUNE 3, 2017‘.
A sticky post will always be pinned to the top and shown above your latest posts.
So to resolve this, you need to change the sticky behavior of the post. Follow these steps to do that:
1. Go to your Blog Posts page from My Site(s) → Blog Posts or just click here: https://wordpress.com/posts/
2. Find the sticky post and click on Edit. This will open up the post editor.
3. On the sidebar of the post editor there is this Status tab, click on that.
4. Inside the Status tab you will find an option named “Stick to the front page” – toggle that off.
5. Finally, click the UPDATE button at the top right corner.More information about sticky posts here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-visibility/#sticky-posts
Hope these help! 🙂
