Claim name that is "taken" but doesn't exist anymore

  Hello,

  I would like to add the blog name to my account but it is saying it’s “unavailable”. However there is no .wordpress.com account active for the name that I wish to use. I am wondering if someone can please free up the name since there is no content or account existing at the address so that I can use it? Anyone out there who actually works for wordpress admin?

  Since you did not post the name – nobody can even give you a good reason why you can’t have a name – however – when an account is set up the matching blog name is reserved for that account. There is no requirement to have a blog with an account. If you want the blog name you will need to contact the account owner and convince them to register the blog then transfer it to you – you are on your own as WordPress.COM will not assist finding an account owner for privacy reasons
