Claiming an inactive account

  Hello, I am trying to start a WordPress site but the username I want, which is also my actual name and my business name, has been taken already. I checked out the account and it has been inactive and essentially empty since 2007 (10 years ago). I hope I’ll be able to claim this. I’m just thinking, as generations go on, WordPress account usernames would get longer and longer if we can’t claim previous ones that are empty and that aren’t being used.

  I was thinking of contacting the owner but it doesn’t seem like there are contact details in it.

  Hi –

  Usernames and site addresses are not recycled on WordPress.com. You won’t be able to use these credentials for your account if they have been used already.
