Claiming an Unused Domain

    I see a xxxx.wordpress.com (xxxx is a placeholder for the actual subdomain) was established in 2008 but no one every added any content. I would like to claim that as my own as xxxx is relevant to the content I wish to create. How can I do that? Thanks.

    I’m afraid it is WordPress.com policy that you can’t use a site created by someone else even if it is currently unused. You’ll have to choose a similar address or one with a .com or .blog ending

    I have an old unused free address I once used for testing as well as my main site. I may or may not use it again but I would be mightily peeved if WordPress.com took it away from me just because someone else liked the look of it.
