Claiming domain names

A question on domain names – if I set up a domain name, ie mydomain.whatever, can I still access my site from the original url, ie mysite.wordpress.com ? I’ve already sent out links for mysite.wordpress.com, so I just want to make sure that setting up a domain name doesn’t break the original link.

Hey! Yes, you can still access the website using the WordPress.com website address :) Also, it depends on the primary address that you use. Usually, folks use their custom domain name (for example, myawesomesite.com) as their primary address — the address they and their visitors see on the browser address bar — but some folks are using their WordPress.com website address as their primary address, too!
Also, no, it shouldn’t break the original link :)
