Claiming website through Pinterest meta HTML tag

Hi there! I’d like to claim my website on Pinterest. Pinterest has put together some very nice instructions but I am not sure how to take either step (Using Meta Tag or Upload an HTML File) without potentially breaking my site. Currently using Divi and WooCommerce, I would prefer not to add another plug in (for header and footer) to add it to my header just because I’m afraid it will counter-act Divi, and I don’t want to mess with the code directly and accidentally break my site. Is there a way to safely address this? Am I worrying too much about adding the header and footer plug in? Steps from Pinterest are copied/pasted below for reference…

    Claim your website
After you claim your website, any Pins that come from your site will have your profile picture added next to them. You’ll also get access to website analytics so you can see what people are saving from your website.

To claim your website, you need to be able to edit your website’s HTML code.

There are two ways to claim your site: with a meta tag or by uploading an HTML file—detailed instructions are below. Note that only second level domains (like example.com) or subdomains (like subdomain.example.com) can be claimed. You will not be able to claim a specific filepath under a domain (like example.com/page). Note also that analytics data for a claimed second-level domain will NOT include its subdomains as well.

    Use a meta tag
Step 1: Get the meta tag
On desktop web, navigate to your Account settings
In the Claim Website section, enter your website URL and click on Claim website
Select the Add HTML tag option
    Copy the meta tag
    Click Next
Step 2: Add it to your website
Add it to the section of the index.html file of your website before the section

    Step 3: Finish setting up
Go back to Pinterest and click Submit—we’ll automatically check the meta tag and claim your site

    Upload an HTML file
    Step 1: Get the file
On desktop web, navigate to your Account settings
In the Claim Website section, enter your website URL and click on Claim website
Select the Upload HTML file option
    Download the file
    Click Next
Step 2: Upload this file to your website
Upload the HTML file to your web server at the root folder (don’t upload to a subfolder or we won’t be able to access it). Root folder names vary by provider—common ones are public_html, www, or wwwroot.

Be sure not to rename the file when you upload it to your server, since we’ll be looking for an exact name match. For example, if you download pinterest-9d541.html, we won’t recognize it if you upload it with a different name, like pinterest-9d541-1.html.

    Step 3: Finish setting up
Go back to Pinterest and click Submit—we’ll automatically check the file and claim your site

    hi,

There is a way to enter the Pinterest meta tag for sites hosted on WordPress.com.
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

However, your website is not hosted on WordPress.com.
If you are unsure who your hosting company is, you can check your site at https://www.whoishostingthis.com.

For self-hosted WordPress sites like yours, it looks like you will have to install a plugin like
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/pinterest-verify/

To clear up any confusion, there are 2 versions of WordPress. WordPress.com is a managed environment different from using the open source WordPress installation. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You could look in this forum; perhaps someone there has experienced something similar:
    https://wordpress.org/support/

You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/register.php

Your hosting provider customer support may also be able to help you.

    Hope this helps
