clarification of a code
-
Pardon the tedium of my too-fundamental question:
1. [div style=”height: 1.4em; visibility: hidden;”]ANY_CHARACTER_HERE[/div]
2. [div style=”height: 1.4em; visibility: hidden;”] [/div] (…replacing [] with <>)
Panos had kindly referred me to HTML spacing codes, with the former being more stable than the latter.
Question: The ANY_CHARACTER_HERE [/div] portion encloses the text set off–i.e., having a space–from what is above it: is that it?
I tried placing [div style=”height: 1.4em; visibility: hidden;”] before the text to be set off, then the text, and finally [/div]. I’m using it incorrectly because the text then disappeared.
Thank you for both the clarification and for helping me to resolve this.

I’m not sure I understand the question, but I’ll give it a try. Example:
Some Text here <div style="height:1.4em;visibility: hidden;">D</div> More Text hereThat will produce blank space between Some Text and More Text. Larger number: more space.

PS To display code here, paste it between backticks. That’s what produces the frame above.

Thank you Panos.
The ANY_CHARACTER_HERE portion had thrown me off, i.e., I was not alert to the fact of the letter’s function: here, the letter ‘D.’ Is any letter applicable?
Also…
another “novice” question: “backticks” refer simply to inverted commas?
-
ANY_CHARACTER_HERE means any character you like; ‘D’ is a good as any other!
Backticks are usually on the same key as tilde ~ nest to the ! 1 key
( ` )

Thank you 1tess!
By the way, the “velveted chicken and cashews” looks mighty inviting! Please save a portion for me…

Oh, thank you! Unfortunately there never are leftovers with that dish…
Happy blogging then.
