clarification of allowed content on wordpress.com needed! (data uri)

I have not been able to find any information on a policy about data URIs on wordpress.com. I think there needs to be one. Currently they function …
<img src=”data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAEAAAABACAI AAAFSDNYfAAAAaklEQVR42u3XQQrAIAwAQeP%2F%2F6wf8CJBJTK9lnQ7FpHGaOurt1 I34nfH9pMMZAZ8BwMGEvvh%2BBsJCAgICLwIOA8EBAQEBAQEBAQEBK79H5RfIQAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAID%2FABMSqAfj%2FsLmvAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg%3D%3D” alt=”” /> will produce a red image of a box.
If data URI is allowed, is it allowed for SVG content?
Forgive me if this is not the correct forum for this question; I do not know where else to ask to have it addressed.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What are the plans for allowing .svg images? I thought it was becoming more and more common on the ‘Net because of the scalabilty. For example, Wikipedia prefers .svg illustrations.

Other have asked this also. See search results http://tinyurl.com/5wclsec We Volunteers are unaware of any plans Staff may have for allowing SVG images. You must contact them directly and ask them about this. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

ewert7diaspora, SVG support has other system issues like html an HTML object it allows content from other sites to be embedded; so a proper implementation means they need to do some SVG markup filtering. I for one would not want comments to be allowed to have an SVG image without such filtering.

I didn’t know that such a security threat occurs with SVG illustrations.
I converted my header to PNG in order to upload it here, but the lettering isn’t crisp anymore….quite disappointing after I spent umpteen hours designing and tweaking it. It comes out great when I insert the SVG header file into Scribus to make printable newsletters, though.
I wonder how Wikipedia gets around the problem wsmithdesign identified.

Since this is a multi-user platform where we all share the same underlying theme and wordpress core files, security has to be a very high priority, especially considering their are 18,000,000 blogs here that all could be brought down by bad code of some sort – intentional or not.
