Clarification to cardinaltree domain

    Hello,

I sent a message this morning from my OTHER WordPress account (dpgrocki). This is to clarify this discrepancy. I do see the charges on my Manages Account page; however, this purchase should NOT have gone through, as the PayPal account was at the time linked to an expired debit card. Therefore, I felt that since WordPress couldn’t take a payment from an expired debit card, that all I had to do was let WordPress cancel my domain. I was wrong. Somehow, WordPress was still able to get the money. Consequently, my most recent debit card just expired July 31. Therefore, this is a big problem.

My biggest issue is the referent payment made BEFORE any reminder is sent to me. What I didn’t appreciate is how quickly this ‘reminder’ email came afterwards. Had I had this notice, I would have canceled my domain, and I still wish to do so. I will not contact PayPal nor cancel my dispute unless I’m given a full explanation as to why I had a reminder given after the payment attempt, and how WordPress was still able to get the money when the account was attached to an expired debit card.

  • Hi there,

this purchase should NOT have gone through, as the PayPal account was at the time linked to an expired debit card. Therefore, I felt that since WordPress couldn’t take a payment from an expired debit card

It is possible to charge a recently expired card, if the bank that issued the card allows it. It’s up to the issuing bank to either approve or deny a charge, so if you think this charge should not have been allowed, please follow up with them.

My biggest issue is the referent payment made BEFORE any reminder is sent to me. What I didn’t appreciate is how quickly this ‘reminder’ email came afterwards.

We sent the first reminder email a month before the renewal was processed, on 30 June. That reminder was sent to the Gmail address connected to this account. If you did not receive that email, please check the Social and Updates tabs in Gmail, as well as spam.

The email you received after the payment was made is a receipt, not a reminder email.

I will not contact PayPal nor cancel my dispute

It looks like the dispute has already been closed, but I am unable to refund your payment from my end. I’ve followed up with our billing team in that regard.

Also please note that if you cancel the domain you might not be able to use it again in future, so please confirm if you’re sure you wish to cancel it.

  • I’ve heard back from our billing team, and they’ve already refunded your payment. If you paid directly via PayPal it should already be showing in your account, else it can take up to 10 business days for your bank to process the refund on their end.

I’ve removed the Premium Plan from your site. Please confirm regarding cancelling the domain, cardinaltree.com, as I asked above, and I will remove that from your account as well.
