Clarify Comment Notification Email Based on Role

  Can “Post Author” with “Editor” role receive comment notifications via email? Based on the support article – http://en.support.wordpress.com/comment-notification-email/, is it true that editors (post author) can receive notifications even though they don’t have the Settings > Discussion option in their side menu? Or does this article only apply to those with Administrative role? Can you please clarify?
