Clarifying some queries

  Hi,

  Hope you are doing fantastic!

  There are a few questions that I intend to seek clarity on. They are the following:

  1. I am currently on a free plan & am planning to switch to the business plan. However, in the future, if I wish to change plans, can I do it? If yes, will there be any loss of content, followers, comments, etc.? And finally how does that process works?

  2. If at any point of time, I wish to switch domains, will that be doable? If yes, will there be any loss of content, followers, comments, etc.? And finally how does that process works?

  3. If I wish to move my website from WordPress to any other website builder, can it be done? If yes, how? If yes, will there be any loss of content, followers, comments, etc.? And finally how does that process works?

  Hi there,

  1. You can downgrade with help from support. Just note, if you switch to the business plan and add outside themes and plugins, if you downgrade again you’ll likely lose whatever you added. For example, if you upgrade to add a store, everything related to the store will be gone when you downgrade again. Possibly even more.

  2. You can switch domains. Just contact support for help. Content and followers will go with you. Social ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ will not go to the new domain, since those are recorded on a per-domain basis. Note if you sign up for an ad program, they may require a reapplication for the new domain, too.

  3. You can migrate your site. Here’s how: https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

  Personally speaking, if you have a very large site and your new host times out on the import, you may need to import a few times before you’ll get everything.
