Clarifying the payment for plan and domain
-
If I upgrade the plan and I buy a domain of .com, .net. and .org, is my yearly fee = plan + 3*extensions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, a plan contains one domain credit which can be used for one domain. Therefore, you’ll be paying for a paid plan and two custom domains.
The prices of custom domains can be viewed here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/

Hi –
This depends on whether or not all 3 domains are dedicated to the same site. If so, you would set up a plan on 1 domain and we can help you register the other 2 as individuals (no plan on those 2).
Does that make sense? Are you planning to have all 3 domains point to the same site? Or would they all be set up as individual sites?
-
They will be directed to the same site. I have already bought the domains from another registrar and now I am just wondering what the yearly renewal fee would be if I were to transfer them to WordPress.com
-
If the domains stay registered at the current registrar, and you only point them to us, it’d be $13/year/site. If you transfer them to us it’d be $26/year/site.
-
you only point them to us, it’d be $13/year/site. If you transfer them to us it’d be $26/year/site.
Do these prices exclude the renewal fee for the plan, which is HK$360/year for a Personal Plan?
-
you only point them to us, it’d be $13/year/site.
Is it $13 regardless of the number of domains pointed to the site?
-
Hi there,
The fee for each custom domain managed (i.e purchased, transferred or redirected) through WordPress.com is $13 yearly.
Thank you for contacting us. Let me know if you further queries.
-
If you transfer them to us it’d be $26/year/site.
The fee for each custom domain managed (i.e purchased, transferred or redirected) through WordPress.com is $13 yearly.
Sorry, I am confused. If I
- transfer
all 3 domains to WordPress.com, and link all 3 of them to the same site, it would cost “$26*3 + Plan fee” per year?
And if I
- map
all 3 domains to the site on WordPress.com, it would cost “$13*3 + Plan fee” per year?
-
That is correct. But in case you choose to transfer them to WordPress.com you will get 1 year free extension for each domain.
-
Ok. So if I transfer all 3 domains here, but only link 1 domain to the site, the yearly fee would be “$26 (domain 1 extension fee is included here) + Plan fee + domain 2 extension fee + domain 3 extension fee”?
-
Hi leemangrove,
Not quite, the total cost/renewal would be:
- 1x plan (which includes 1 domain credit)
- 2x extensions
I hope this helps :)
-
If I transfer all 3 domains to WordPress.com and direct all of them to the same site, would my total yearly renewal fee be “Plan fee + $26*3 + extension fee*3”?
Or is the extension renewal fee included in the $26?
-
Let’s use an actual plan as an example to help.
Personal plan with domain 1 = $48 per year
domain mapping for domain 2 = $13 per year
domain mapping for domain 3 = $ 13 per yearTotal annual cost = $74
Does that help?
-
Oh sorry, I see you wanted to do domain transfer rather than mapping. That will cost a little more. In that scenario:
Personal plan with domain 1 = $48
domain transfer and renewal domain 2 = $26
domain transfer and renewal domain 3 = $26Total annual cost = $100

What are the yearly costs of Premium and Business Plans in USD? They are shown in HKD here.
And thanks a lot for the clarification.
-
The Premium Plan currently costs $96 and Business $300. If you prefer to pay in USD, let us know and we can switch the currency on your account for you.
