class='alignnone wp-image-9308'

This statement in the HTML pseudo code seems to interfere with setting the image position: left center right. I usually have to edit this out and then align the image and then the statement style=center appears and the image centers.

Hi there,
When you add an image to a post or page, you can choose what alignment you want to give that image in the “Attachment Display Settings” section before you insert it into the post/page. That will give the image the correct HTML to align the image to the left, center, or right where you want it.
After you add an image to the page, you can also click on the image and then click on the alignment buttons that appear to change its alignment. That will also adjust the HTML to match the alignment you choose.
If that’s not working for you, can you describe the exact steps you’re using to add the image and change its alignment? That will help me understand what’s going on so I can help troubleshoot the issue for you.

No. Your second paragraph does not describe what I have seen recently. After inserting the picture and clicking on the center choice while in the view mode it frequently does not take the chosen setting. It stays to the left and it seems to be caused by the default class setting in the HTML: class= alignnone. If I remove this statement and then select center in the view screen it will place the code style= center and the picture will center.

Hi there,
That’s odd — the image’s class should change when you change the image’s alignment (for example, from alignnone to aligncenter when you center align the image). Are you using the alignment buttons that pop up above the image when you click on it in the editor? This screenshot shows those buttons: https://cloudup.com/cQd9SK55ZDd
Also, can you share a link to a post (or tell me the title of a post draft) where this happened so I can take a closer look?

No I have been using the center button above the text window that holds the post. That explains it. Thank you. But I am sure there maybe others who are unaware of the distinction also.
