Moving images within a Classic block

    I found where I can go back to classic editor, but it won’t let me cut and paste or maneuver art within a file. Help!!

  • Hi @writersbridgebridgebuilder, can you clarify what you’re trying to do and what’s happening? If possible, get a screenshot too, and upload it to https://snipboard.io, then send us a link. Or, upload it to your media library: https://wordpress.com/media

    Hi, and thanks for touching base.

    I don’t think this is something I can recreate with a screenshot. Here’s the problem: Prior to Tuesday, I would open my blog page, scroll down the menu on the left of the page, and click on “admin.” Then I could click on “files” and it would give me a choice between “classic editing” and the new Gutenburg version. I chose “classic,” because that was much easier for me to work in. On Tuesday, though, the menu had changed, and “admin” was gone. I did find a way to recreate “classic editing,” but it wouldn’t let me move photographs around on a post. The photo would just stay at the top, and when I clicked on it, it would disappear.

    Basically, I just want things back the way they were. If that’s not possible, I’ll have to bail out — which would be shame, because I’ve had this blog (snowflakesarise.wordpress.com) for six years and have used it to highlight more than 800 books.

    I have the same issue and do not know how to get the classic block post back. Anyone can help on this since wordpress has change the format. I do not have admin in order to post the new post with the classic editing.

    @nganlau121212,

    Hi. WordPress.com has recently combined the Calypso and WP-Admin sidebars into one, as described in the forum topic Unified Navigation. The damage can be partially remedied by choosing the “Show advanced dashboard pages” at Account Settings > Dashboard Appearance, as described in the Dashboard Appearance section of the Account Settings support page.

    The Classic Editor is still available to all WordPress.com users, and it’s still free. Here’s the Classic Editor support page, and the recently revised How to Access the Classic Editor section of that support page.

    @nganlau121212,

    I meant to copy this part of your post also: “I do not have admin in order to post the new post with the classic editing.” Am I correct that you’d prefer to go back to the Classic Editor in WP-Admin, rather than use the Classic Block in the Block Editor at Calypso?

    Thanks for that. I’ll see if I can negotiate my way through it.

    You’re welcome. : )

  • @writersbridgebridgebuilder I’d still be interested to hear what happens when you try to manipulate images in the block editor. That way we can work to resolve those issues before the classic editor is gone.

    You said:

    Can you clarify whether this was within the classic block inside the block editor?

    Will do, although it may be Monday before I take this on. I understand that it’s a good deal for Word Press to let me have my Website for free, and that they can’t communicate with everyone individually. Still, it’s quite disconcerting when you click on your site one morning to find that everything has changed, with no warning or explanation.
