classic editor
-
Is it true that I can only access the classic editor if I upgrade my plan? I have the free plan now. I’ve followed directions to switch to classic editor and it doesn’t work. I am extremely unhappy with new block editing because when I type in my poetry it comes out as double spaced and there doesn’t seem to be any way to change that. Thanks for any help!
The site I need help with is everythingindigo.wordpress.com.

Hi,
Is it true that I can only access the classic editor if I upgrade my plan
No, you can access it for now. Just note it won’t be available forever, so if you’re running into any trouble, it’s best to let us know so our developers can work on that for you.
To switch for now, go to https://wordpress.com/posts and tap the Screen Options link in the upper right. You’ll have a classic wp-admin option. Choose that. Then when starting a new post on that screen, choose the classic editor.
Again, though, please note I don’t know how long that will be available, and it’s not something our forums staff has much control over. So if possible, use blocks and let us know if you’re struggling with anything.

Thank you for your response. I clicked on the link in your response and did not see the Screen Options link in the upper right. Very frustrating. Does it actually say ‘Screen Options”? But what is the use if eventually I will not have the option for classic editor since you wrote it won’t be available forever.
Very simply, the only thing I want to do is be able to post my poems in a single spaced format like all of my other poems are posted but that is not how they appear after I type them in or even copy and paste them into the editor. They are all double-spaced and I cannot separate the stanzas with an extra space. I don’t understand how this is not available. I should be able to choose the line spacing of my own poems.

Take a look at the Verse block, https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/verse-block/
