Classic Editor

I want to go back to Classic Editor. I hate the block editor. However, it appears I cannot do that because I am using the free version of WordPress? What can I do.

Hi there, Looking in your MySite Editor, do you have the option to “Switch to Classic Editor” at the bottom of the menu that opens when you click the three dots at the top right of your editing screen? If so, you can click on that to temporarily return to the Classic Editor in MySite.
But keep in mind, WordPress.com is moving to the Block Editor as default (you can read more about that in this blog post https://wordpress.com/blog/2020/08/13/the-classic-editing-experience-is-moving-not-leaving/ ) and when that happens you should be able to:
1. Use the Classic Block in the MySite editor, which emulates the Classic Editor experience, as described here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
2. Or navigate to your WPcom site’s WP Admin dashboard (yoursite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/) and use the Classic Editor there

When I am editing, clicking on the three dots in the top right corner….the bottom is “Options” – not switch to classic.
On my WP Admin dashboard shows, nothing about the classic editor. These are the options:
Edit | Quick Edit | Copy | Trash | PreviewAs well, I looked in WP Admin under writing settings, and it says nothing about classic either.
However, it does look like my WP Admin is still using the original method of editing, so perhaps I will start using that instead — unless that will be changing as well?

Hello again, if you received the email from WPcom indicating “The new WordPress block editor is now the primary editing experience for your site(s)” when you open the editor at MySite>Site>Posts and previously you had the Classic Editor activated there, you should see the Classic Editor in WP Admin. I’m basing this on what’s happened on my test sites that have been switched so far.
I do not believe there are plans at this time to remove the Classic Editor from WP Admin, but for right now it is available there. As a fellow user of the platform, I have no knowledge of WPcom’s future plans.

Why does WP continue to ignore the wishes of their users? The Block Editor was very poorly designed and implemented. WP needs to give their users the option to revert back to the classic editor.

I’m just very frustrated with this block editor….and with no option to revert back, it just leaves me wondering if it is time for a move.

Hello again, If your site previously had the Classic Editor available at MySite>Site>Posts, the Classic Editor is available in WP Admin. The other option is the Classic Block if you want to retain the Classic editing experience. It works like the Classic Editor. I’ve linked to that option in my previous reply above.
Personally, I find the Block Editor much easier to use than people think. Just write. The default block is the Paragraph block. There are also tutorials to get you started https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/ Since your site is now using the Block Editor at MySites, you can try it out in draft posts or pages and if you run into any problem or issue, please post here in our forums.

the blockeidtor is useless i cant add Categories think i best look elsewhere for a better site to use this block is useless
