classic editor
-
Hate to be a bother, BUT. I am not at all happy with the block editor that has appeared on my blog. I have diabetic retinopathy and this is extremely difficult for me to use. I have had the blog for so long that I ‘know’ where certain things are in the classic editor and have no issue with it. At this point in time I am ready to permanently leave WP for another hosting site. I’d hate to do this as I have a community here that is important to me. How can I get back the classic editor without paying for services. Since i am disabled I live on a small fixed income and can not afford to pay for services.

another blogger told me that she had the classic editor “forced back” since she was unable to use the new block editor. Can someone in the happiness engineer group PLEASE force the classic back to my site? The site is suzilandsite.wordpress.com , she said to use the reference number: #23512102-hc.
I attempted to use the wp-admin editor but it is a LOT more steps for me to take and is difficult. Please help, I really don’t want to leave WP but will if I have to use this block editor. -
Hi there,
There is no way to force the classic editor on a site. What my colleague did for the other blogger in chat is set a preference for the classic editor only. That preference is already set on your account, but it doesn’t make much difference at this point and is a very temporary measure:
The classic editor at My Site ->Site ->Posts is being completely removed from WordPress.com. That was our own in-house editor, and is not part of the open source WordPress software, and we are retiring that editor as it’s no longer feasible for us to maintain it, in addition to the block editor and original classic WordPress editor.
The only way to still use the classic editor is from WP-Admin, at https://suzilandsite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php
For now, if a site has a preference set for the classic editor, like your site, creating a new post there will automatically load the classic editor there. But once the My Sites classic editor is completely removed from our codebase in another week or two, that preference itself will also no longer exist, and instead WP-Admin will give you a choice whether to create new posts in the classic or block editor.
If you create a new post from My Sites, the block editor is now the only option.

that’s really too bad as I am not able to use the block, and wp-admin is a pain…especially if it too shall no longer work with the classic editor soon. I fear you will find that you lose multiple sites over this nonsense. The block editor is bulky and has multiple issues that need to be resolved for it to work for bloggers. It may be great for people who are truly into publishing things like magazines, but for a social blog it makes no bloody sense. I personally know 16 people who are actively looking for a new hosting site over this issue.

I don’t mean to impose, but I agree with shartline9. I’ve been on WordPress since 2016 and have enjoyed producing content on the site. But this new block editor is a pain. Although I don’t have any physical disabilities that prevent me from navigating the site, it is extremely time-consuming to readjust to a new editing system that’s not beneficial to my blog formula.
Maybe this will take some time getting used to, but for right now, I’m not satisfied.
