classic editor
-
I am struggling to access the classic editor to edit pages. When I go to the wp-admin site and click on pages, I am redirected to the new admin interface where the classic editor does not seem to be an option. Also, is it true that the classic editor is going away in a few months? Is there a way to keep the classic editor?

We have tips for transitioning from the classic editor to blocks https://wordpress.com/support/switching-from-the-classic-to-the-block-editor/ and FAQs: https://wordpress.com/support/replacing-the-older-wordpress-com-editor-with-the-wordpress-block-editor/#frequently-asked-questions
And, if you really want to use something like the classic editor, we recommend sticking with the classic block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/

If you have any feedback on the new editor, we’re always looking for ways to improve it, so please let us know!

Thank you. I was able to change my settings and wp-admin settings allowed me to get to the classic editor. I prefer the classic editor to block or the new editor because I like the ability to insert media. Last time I checked that button was missing from the new editor. Also, I prefer the ability to see the HTML code and write the HTML code so I prefer the classic editor to block editor. Can you confirm if the classic editor will ever disappear?

The plan is to eventually deprecate the classic editor, but we don’t have a firm date on when that will happen.
As for writing in HTML, you can switch from the Visual to the Code editor: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/#more-options

Please don’t deprecate the classic editor. All you will achieve is annoying all the people who prefer it. I find the new block editor feels like an oversimplified ‘big print’ version. I really dislike it.
I don’t want to sound like a tosser, but it’s already a balance between WordPress and Wix, and what keeps me here is the classic editor.
