Classic Editor cockup

So I can’t install the Classic Editor plugin unless I ‘upgrade’ to the pay version?
I don’t give a damn about bells and whistles. The Classic works fine for me, and I’d like to continue with it.
Can someone skinny me on how to do that, in as layman’s a language as possible?
Much obliged

You can’t and the staff around here refuses to give it’s customer back the classic editor. Which worked just fine compared to the dumpster fire that the block editor is.

Hi there,
For right now, you can switch to the classic editor by clicking on the three dots (next to the cog icon) at the top of the post or page editor and selecting “Switch to Classic Editor”.
Here is a screencast of the steps to follow: http://cld.wthms.co/tOOMQu
However, we will be retiring the classic editor, but you can still use the features of the classic editor through the classic block:
https://wordpress.com/support/editors/#classic-editorWe also have information on transitioning to the Block Editor, and Frequently Asked Questions.
Hope this helps.

I have nothing below “Options”, so the video doesn’t sync with my reality.
The Classic block appears to have jettisoned the word count.
Any way to retrieve it?
