CLASSIC Editor issues

When using the Classic Editor, and the Pre-formatted option: – choosing colors for selected text isn’t available initially (but it is available after the post has been added and then selected again for editing). – indenting text is not reflected when viewing the post after publishing – when using copy and paste from Notepad, “bolded” text gets “unbolded” and requires “re-bolding” in WordPress (one paragraph at a time).

None of these issues were there prior to the recent Editor changes.

The Classic editor is no longer fully functional. The Classic Editor is the legacy editing experience on WordPress. The modern WordPress Editor can do anything the Classic Editor can do and much more, so even though the Classic Editor is still available, it is not recommended as it isn’t compatible with recent themes.Instead of clinging desperately to the outdated classic editor, you better switch to using our modern block editor.

Hey there, @utvolwoody! As @staartmees mentioned, the Classic Editor is no longer fully functional, but the new WordPress Editor provides all the same functionality (and more).

If you’re using the Classic Block when copying/pasting content from the Notepad application, I’d suggest using a Paragraph Block instead.

I’ll send an email to you to follow up with further support. Talk to you soon!

Just a head’s up that I would have been using wordpress for the last few year if it were easier to use classic editor.

I know several other people who no longer use wordpress or wordpress supported things for their websites & blogs.

It’s wild not to listen to customer feedback about this, but off I go to a different site where I am willingly paying a monthly fee for something that does not have blocks misbehaving.

(And I build websites. So it’s not that I can’t change it myself. It’s that I won’t. This should be far easier.)

    Hello @illustr8dart,

Thank you for sharing the feedback. I understand you prefer Classic Editor and you can use it with WordPress.com if you prefer the legacy editing experience on WordPress. The modern WordPress Editor can do anything the Classic Editor can do and much more, so even though the Classic Editor is still available, it is not recommended.

Could you open a new forum topic and share more details about which blocks were misbehaving on your site? I assure you we will test them and let our product team know about those issues.

I look forward to helping you sort this out!
