Classic Editor: scroll bar for text missing
-
I hadn’t seen your previous posts regarding that option…
My “work around” is to click on “Screen Options,” then [uncheck] “Enable full-height editor and distraction-free functionality.” It’s not perfect but at least the toolbar is viewable on long posts.
Enabling that feature does cause the scrollbar to disappear for me. However, neither enabling it or disabling it has any effect upon the toolbar.

Hmm, interesting that you can still see the toolbar while mine has disappeared.
I’m using the work-around now, but prefer the other way, with the toolbar showing even on long posts.

Just reporting back that for me, the formatting toolbar in the Classic Editor is back fixed at the top of the editing box when scrolling down the page.

@dandelionsalad, @justjennifer, and others,
Have you clicked or unclicked on “Enable full-height editor and distraction-free functionality” under “Screen Options” in the new post or editing an older post?
specs:
Windows 7, desktop
FF browser, 87.0 (latest)During additional testing in two sessions last night and this morning I found that the Classic Editor window toolbar will sometimes become unstuck with “full-height editor and distraction-free functionality” enabled, but only after either reloading or updating the page after checking the box to enable it. However, this result was inconsistent; sometimes it remained stuck after doing so. In the github issue linked to by staff-doublebassd in Reply #3631619, one user said:
The issue is intermittent, sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn’t. Here’s a side by side video, both Firefox browsers, where it’s working in one page but not the other. https://d.pr/v/JbdVLO
The fact that, in my tests, reloading or updating the page was required to sometimes produce the result of the toolbar becoming unstuck suggests that caching might be a factor. In fact, it was sometimes necessary to reload or update just to make the editor window scrollbar disappear or reappear after enabling or disabling, respectively, “full-height editor and distraction-free functionality.” This latter result specifically occurs after I close and re-open a page editor, and persists UNTIL I reload the page. After reloading the page once, clicking and unclicking that box immediately causes the scrollbar to disappear or reappear.
I failed to reproduce the same results in Google Chrome. In Chrome, the toolbar never became unstuck no matter what I did, although the testing I’ve done in that browser has been minimal.

I only use Firefox, so can’t speak to how it’s working in Chrome.
Still using the work-around so at least the toolbar is showing.
Please let us know when it’s fixed.
Thanks.
