Classic mode option has been removed, Please bring it Back.
-
Dear Forums,
I recently attempted to edit one of my recent articles, only to be taken to the new editor. There used to be an option to switch to classic mode, however that seems to have been removed. I may not be looking in the right place for the option to switch to the classic mode. If I am not seeing that option, please point me to where it is on the new editor? Thank you.If you have removed the option to switch to classic mode, please reinstate an option to switch to the classic editor.
Thank you.

Hi Craig,
The Classic Editor will continue to exist in wp-admin. We know some users prefer to use this editor, so we want you to have access to it, instead of phasing it out with the new version of the Dashboard. However, a link to the Classic Editor will not return to the New Editor. From: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/when-editing-an-old-post-how-do-i-switch-to-the-classic-editor?replies=5#post-2316097
The classic editor has not been removed but the link to return to it from the new editor was removed by Staff, who watched how many used it for 6 months and then decided that link wasn’t needed.
If you have not done so already and would like to see the return of the link to the Classic Editor from within the New Post Editor, please post in this thread to say so https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-reinstate-the-option-of-choice-to-use-the-old-publishing-format/page/4?replies=97#post-2311491

I have three blogs in WP where I regularly post, now I can’t go into my blogs through the dashboard because it doesn’t appears with my blog instead appears in other blog that I never used. My blogs are: http://piedadmo.net, http://piedadmontesdeoca.com, and htt://piedadmo.me. None of those I can’t go in so I can edit or write a new post. The blog http://piedad45’s blog is not the one where I used all these years where I have my posts and edit them, comments, etc.

Thank you Timethief,
I appreciate you taking the time to explain what you have with me. I do not know if you are saying there is an option to prevent going to the new editor — and instead opening to the new editor. I would like to have that option so that I can go immediately to classic editor, instead of defaulting to the new editor. With all the UPROAR when the new editor was launched — I am amazed that more people did not use the switch to classic mode button — unless they did not know that that option existed.
MANY, MANY, MANY people, based on the LONG stream of comments at the launch were very DISGRUNTLED that staff were, is essence; making people use the new editor. That is why they (staff) gave the option to revert to the classic mode in the side bar of the new editor at the time. Please ask staff to reinstall the classic button option in the new editor. Thank you.
Please send this comment along with the above stream to staff. Thank you for your time and kindness timethief.
Have a great day my friend.

@piedad1945
Please do not hijack threads by posting off-topic into theme. It’s confusing and results in the original poster and everyone trying to help them who has subscribed to the thread getting unnecessary unrelated email, and that is annoying. Please use this Add New Topic link found on the front page of these forums https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 so you can copy and paste your text into a thread that will appear in a new thread where you will get the help you need.

Hi, I found it in WP-Admin.
But when I published an article and want to edit it, it switches back to the new mode which is much more complicate.I cannot modify an article without closing it, switching to admin and go back.
I understand that you removed the button. But the system should remember that I use the classic mode. It should not switch back to the complicate handling of the new mode when I click “modify”.
Is there any way that I come directly to classic mode again? I do not need the new mode.
Please, please, please, bring it back into the standard handling.

I cannot believe users prefer the Beep Beep Poo to the cklassic editor. Any chance of seeing the user statistics that were used to justify this particular downgrade?

@hutschi, thankfully, tpenguinltg has made a user script (must have GreaseMonkey or another program like it) to install to your browser to redirect to the classic editor when editing older posts or making a new post. This is not cookie dependent, so it’s better than what WP was giving us as an option to use prior to them eliminating it.

This is a breach of trust. I paid 26 or 32 dollars a blog, based on my ability to use the system how I was using it when I bought them.
You change mid-cycle, and I’m screwed. The new blogging system? WTF? You guys at WP need to get off your computers, smell roses, read the Tao Te Ching, and not DO anything when things are working fine!!!
Then again, WE are the idiots for trusting a site with no phone support!!! Time thieves indeed. –Bill
