Classic Notifications

Where, oh where has Notifications gone
https://wordpress.com/notifications/
instead I get
https://wordpress.com/me/notifications
WTF. 4 1/2 years of blogging using classic Notifications and now all I get is my profile/notifications set up !
I have just spent €600 upgrading my laptop, my head is not pressed up against a smart phone. For a number of years I have been paying well over $100 to WordPress and all WordPress can do is expect everyone to have their nose glued to a smart phone.
The least WordPress can do is to give us the choice of classic notifications or the useless new version. Google + has that facility !
Has WordPress actually surveyed the number of users that use PC/laptops ? I doubt it very much. For heavens sake fire that WP idiot who thinks that all WordPress users are like him/her who has a smart phone superglued to his/her nose 24/7.
Fix it WP !!

I have to agree with you, Ralph. I do check my WP notifications on my phone when I am on the go.
But when I am responding to comments, I like to do it on a laptop. I like to have a whole page where I can read my notifications wide-screen and respond to all of them in depth and in length – as opposed to doing that via the bell notification button on the top right.

Like you, after publishing a post I am inundated with comments. I see you have around 200 comments/post and I have around 100 (to date I have over 20,000 approved comments). The full page notifications is so user friendly as I can see immediately what I need to do. The reply boxes are a large, the replied arrow is conspicuous (easy to see).
I am dreading tonight when I am publishing my next post. I may have to work directly in my post comments as comments are usually long and the tiny box in the drop-down notifications is not user friendly.
Because I will not be using the drop-down I am bound to miss third or fourth replies in older post comments as they only show up on notifications, not emails.
Good luck my friend with your comments.

You could always go to your dashboard and respond to your comments that way – it gives you a full screen. However, as you alluded to, you might miss older comments or replies to your comments on other blogs.
One way around the latter problem is to receive these notifications via email. But I find it a hassle switching back and forth between my emails and WP.
Definitely agree that the classic notification – and stats – is much more user friendly, and this is coming from a person who uses gadgets and smartphone all day on the go.
