Clearer comment button or icon.

I’ve heard back from a few friends that wanted to comment on my blog, but couldn’t find where to do so. There is a very tiny thing at the bottom of each post, but it isn’t clear, like saying, “Submit a Comment” or something like that. It just has the word comment and the number. I’d like to make it easier for people to leave comments. Is there some way that I can put it in a text widget for the sidebar, or put an icon or button at the bottom? And if so, where I can get the code to make it happen. Thanks ahead of time.

Yes, on your front page, that lists all the posts, there is only a small link that says “# Comments”, but that’s the same for all themes. If I go to one of your posts, there’s a big box that says “Leave a reply” How is it possible to overlook that?

@anforr, You could put a short instruction into a text widget, and title it “How to Comment” and then place it at the top of your sidebar.

Another possibility is to use the new “sticky post” option here. Create a post and title it, “How to Comment” or something similar, and over above the save and publish buttons at the right of the editor click the “sticky post” option and then publish the post. It would then appear at the top of your blog page even after you make new posts. It “sticks” to the top of your blog.

I appreciate this thread in the forum– I hope I am correct in continuing to pose questions within it, rather than starting my own. If not please forgive and advise me.

I have a similar concern regarding the user-friendliness of our “comments” or “responses.” I was hoping there might be some way to “personalise” the invitation to comment, but it seems from the above that there is not. Is there any way that we could have the # of responses actually say “0” or “zero,” rather than “no?” When you see “no responses,” it is reasonable to interpret that to mean that it is not possible to respond, rather than that there simply haven’t been any responses, yet. At least with the “number” it is obvious that responding can happen.

And, is there some reason I simply don’t understand, for the terms “comments, “responses,” and “replies” being used interchangeably, rather than sticking with one term and being consistent?

Thanks so much for your attention to my questions, and thanks to WordPress in general—we love it!

Thanks so much for responding to my questions. I am still a newbie, so any help I can get is very much appreciated. I will try a few of the ideas you’ve left above and let you know what happens.

    Thanks again!
