How do i get back to an untamed blank site in wordpress
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can empty your website to start over fresh keeping the same website address.
Refer below link for more details,

Thank you for the reply. I was able to delete pages but there is no option to delete the blog or home page. I would like a clean page to add my material.
-
You can delete home page from customizer > Menus > delete menu
Or Customizer > Menus > Primary > Home Page > delete
Above steps depends on theme you are using.
You can also use bulk action to delete all the contents from home page or blog from /wp-admin dashboard.

I’m sorry for seeming a bit ‘thick’, but everything I try, forbids ne to delete the ‘Blog Posts’ section from my site. I’m happy to leave other pages intact but do not want the ‘blog’ page. Help.
This is supposed to be simple to use but so far I have found it anything but. -
Hi there,
Can you change below setting and try deleting blog page, then you will have only home page on your site.
Customizer > Homepage Settings > Your home page displays > select “your lastest posts”
Let me know if this works.

Hi again and thanks for the help.
No, that doesn’t work.
15 years ago I had a 100 page website and wrote it all in HTML. That was easier than this. Now I’m getting too old to remember how to write code so I thought I would try wordpress.
It shouldn’t be ‘rocket science’ to simply go to a control panel to delete the whole data or just one page. The theme adds a photo to the home page which is un-clickable and therefore I can’t remove it. I can’t even work out how to edit the original text for the theme page.
Cheers from Bruce. -
Hi Bruce,
Indeed its a best platform to forget technicality of website creation and focus on customization. I might be missing on something while helping you.
No need to worry, someone from staff will help you clear your website contents. Thanks for your patience.I am adding modlook tag to this thread.
Cheers! Hope this gets resolved soon.

For staff intervention forum volunteers can add “modlook” tag in the sidebar.
Can you confirm the website url for which you are trying to clear all contents. I assumed your site is created with WordPress.com
-
I think I’m getting there! Who would have thought that there are 2 sites for editing the pages.
-
No… not working. Now pages that have been deleted are opening.
I have had similar issues trying to upgrade my work website using the DVI builder.
It seems that the people who build the programs, never go back to basics and try to use them.
I’m still open to help.

Hi Bruce,
I can see you’ve got one page and one post still, both with the same name. I can see how that would be confusing. You can delete each one at wordpress.com/posts and wordpress.com/pages.
Or you can use the wp-admin interface if you prefer.
I will note, if you like this look:
https://cubicdemo.wordpress.com/That’s made up of multiple blog posts, all displayed in a grid on the homepage of your site. So that front page essentially is your blog page. Is that what you have mind? If not, can you let us know what you’re after? We can help.
I’ll note as well, as staff we can actually clear *everything* out for you, or we can give you the site as it likely was when you started, with a little bit of fake content. Let us know if you’d like us to do that, and please acknowledge you will lose the post and page, as well as any images you’ve uploaded.

Hi Supernovia; thanks for replying.
You asked what I want… one thing I do NOT want is a blog page. All I wanted to begin with is a website to display images which I can invite my family to view.
If I am to learn wordpress, I can’t learn if the software pre-empts my design. It seems that if I choose a theme, I cannot un-choose a theme.
I am using DVI builder at my work website and am starting to enjoy that but I found out that it is a plugin which costs $80 or so.
I prefer the challenge of starting with a blank canvas and then exploring the program to add what I need; BUT, I also need the option to easily delete something that I feel is not satisfactory. [An ‘undo’ button would be perfect.]
I am guessing that I am stuck in a blog theme which I cannot extricate myself from. I can’t find any option to delete everything, including the title or blog page.
Can you help please. My only other alternative is to scrap this site and begin another with a completely new name . I would love to know if there is a way to delete history too as I think that the program caches the pages. If I knew that I could keep my name, I would delete the site and begin again but I’m worried that the name will show up as not registerable. -
Howdy –
one thing I do NOT want is a blog page
No problem. All of your pages can be managed via My Sites – Pages
from there you can set them to draft or even delete what you don’t want. What appears in your site menu is also entirely customizable. This page will help you with that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
It seems that if I choose a theme, I cannot un-choose a theme.
Right. If you choose the theme it is applied to the site. You need a theme on the site, so if you want to try something else or go back to the previous one you can get there through the theme showcase. https://wordpress.com/themes/
As for plugins. They can only be used on WordPress.com with our business plan. It’s not possible to add plugins to any other sites other than the ones with that plan. https://wordpress.com/pricing/
The entire site can be emptied. Before doing that, you need to create an export file for any content that you want to keep and make sure you have any original media files as well. https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/
