Click on photo takes me to a white page instead of a bigger photo inside the blo
-
Hi folks,
Bit of a panic – in my photo blog Nil’s (Modularity Lite) a click on the photo would show a larger version of the photo, still inside the blog. Today I get a white browser page with the larger photo instead… ough!
Any changes? If not, any idea what may be wrong?
Yesterday it still worked fine…Thanks and grts

I am not experiencing this using Firefox 3.6.17 and suspect you have a browser issue. Please try changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies – instructions for specific browsers.
Which browser and version of it are you using please?
Have you tried another browser?In case this is a Flash issue, you can use this link to see if your flash is up to date.
If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of flash. -
You’re getting that in your latest post because you selected a different option (File URL instead of Post URL). See here for more:
Uploading and inserting images: the three (plus one) link options

Hi Timethief,
I use Firefox 4.0.1, the settings have not been changed from the last time I posted, Flash is the last version, cookies and stuff are all cleared when I close Firefox, refreshing the page makes no difference. It does exactly the same thing in IE7.
Hi Panaghiotisadam,
I have checked another post and page of a few days ago and both the older one and todays posts have File URL. That is something I never change – thought that maybe in a sleepy mood I clicked somewhere wrong but it is still the same and it works fine on the older post… ???

How exactly did you check that? You only get the “File URL” or “Post URL” options when you are about to insert an image, not afterwards. And if both the older one and todays posts had File URL, then both would behave like the latest one.
When you click “Post URL” before inserting an image, you get an attachment page when you click the published image (which is what you want). When you click “File URL” before inserting an image, you get the fullsize original alone (which is what you did in your latest post). Instead of doubting that, just delete the image and reinsert it, making sure you click “Post URL” before you insert it.

@panaghiotisadam – you can check it my selecting the image in the Edit pane and clicking on the little options icon in the top left hand corner
-
Can you change it there too, maybe, if it happened again?
I have removed and reloaded this batch by now but you never know… :-)
I really don’t get it why after 2 years of blogging it suddenly changed…What I did to check was right-click the picture and look for the file info – and there I get the full file URL for all photos.
Thanks for the tip!

@teamoyeniyi: My question was rhetorical. If you are experienced, you can check it without having to go to the image editor. If you aren’t experienced, then no you cannot check it there. In the Add an Image window you get “None”, “File URL” and “Post URL”, while in the edit window you get “None”, “Current Link” and “Link to Image”. Above them there’s a “Link URL” field: there you can see the URL of the image or the URL of the attachment page (if you had selected “File URL” or “Post URL”, respectively), but obviously nil1950 isn’t familiar with the difference between those two yet.
@nil1950: You’re welcome!
• No you cannot change it there: you can change it to fullsize image alone or to non-clickable image but not to attachment page.
• The add an image tool remembers your last choice. It suddenly changed because at some point you inadvertently clicked the “File URL” button.
• Right-clicking for the file info is irrelevant: it will give you the address of the image in both cases – check the demo images in the post I linked to to see for yourself. -

@panaghiotisadam
Well, you can hardly learn from something that hasn’t ever gone wrong before, can you now? In the meantime I have already tried the edit option with one of my photos and indeed have found out that the Post URL is not there. So this is another one I will not forget any more. Nothing like experience… :-)Thanks again…
Hi Richard! Nice to see you’re still around :-)
