Click stats – reliable & how does it work?

  Hello,

  I wonder whether the “clicks” section on the stats pages is accurate?!?

  Also – out of curiosity – I was trying to figure out how it works. I was expecting some redirects to wordpress replacing the links for counting, but this does not seem the case. Does this mean that there is some javascript magic involved that phones home at every click? If yes – I assume that clicks from people who have javascript off (or look at the posts in an RSS reader) are not counter?

  You are right:

  The following are not reflected in your stats:
  Visits to uploaded documents and files
  Visits from browsers that do not execute javascript or load images
  GoogleBot and other search engine spiders
  Your own visits to your blog (for logged-in users of public blogs only)
