Click-thrus from bit.ly far exceed site stats view reports
-
Click thrus on the bit.ly shortened version of the short URL as reported on my Twitter posting app (Gremln) are 10 to 60 times more than the page views that show on my WordPress Stats page for http://voiceofthephoenix.com This has been true for several months. Can someone either explain the discrepancy, tell me what I need to change to get them in sync, or identify a bug that might be the cause? Thanks! (Also true on http://edreinvented.com)

Hi there,
I’d be happy to take a look at what might be going on with your stats discrepancy.
If I understand correctly, you are saying that folks are clicking links to your WordPress.com site from Twitter, and Twitter is recording the stats for those clicks, but WordPress.com is not adding the visitors to your page views. Is that right? If so, could you look at your Referrer’s stats page, https://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/?view=referrers&summarize&numdays=7&blog=10096092&unit=1 and compare it to your Twitter stats to see if you can find an example of a click through that didn’t appear in your stats?
Thanks!

Thanks, catrymer!
I just put up a post, and while Gremln is showing 29 click-throughs between 8:49:26 and 8:50:26 (Central Time) on 2/13 the WordPress referrer stats show “WordPress Dashboard” with 1 view (presumably mine, when I checked the post before publishing).
I appreciate your assistance with this!

Hi there,
I’m so sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you! Our support department has been largely closed over the last few days.
I wanted to check first to see if this is still a problem for you? Are you still seeing significantly more traffic coming in through your URL shortener service than is showing up in your WordPress.com stats?
If so, could you possibly post a screenshot of your traffic through the URL shortener so I can get a better idea of what is going on? If it’s not clear from the screenshot, please let me know what date/time range the traffic is for!
Thank you so much!
