clickable single photo

I need help with a CSS that let single photo be clickable. multiple pictures can be clickable but not single photos. Thanks

When you insert single images into posts or pages you can set a custom URL for that image or choose to have it like to “none” or to the image itself.
If you open the page or post in the editor, click on the image and click on the “Link To” dropdown you can choose. You can find more information on this on our Insert Adding Images to Posts and Pages support page.

I’ve looked into this and the only way I see where we can click (enlarge) single photo’s in a blog or page is to change the URL.
“The instructions from this guide are referring to the WP Admin editor. You can get to this editor by adding /wp-admin to the end of your site’s url (e.g.: example.wordpress.com/wp-admin)”
if I do this, the only way to enlarge a single photo is to have it open in a different window or tab. I just want them to open like muiltple photo’s do when they are clicked. Is this not possible for single photo’s on a blog post?
I hope I am being clear on what I’m looking for. When I click on more than one photo to be inserted on the blog I get options like “lay-out” and “Link to”.
I suppose thats what I need for single photo’s, a “Link to” button.

Are you referring to the way that images in a gallery can be clicked on so that you can view them at full size within a page? If so, there isn’t a built in way to achieve the same effect with single images.
As a workaround, you could use the gallery short code to create a “gallery” that contains one image:

yes, thats what I’m needing to be done but seems its not possible on here. I don’t think the workaround approach would be suitable from the way I’m understanding it. I’m a little surprised theres not a way to make a single photo clickable on a post. Thanks for the help

You can make a single photo clickable using the method Richard originally described, but you’re right that it’s not possible to achieve the lightbox effect you can see in galleries.

All themes work in the same way. The lightbox effect is currently only possible to achieve through the use of galleries.
