Clicking on images does not enlarge them

I have been using two blogs since 2012 without problems (Spanish and English, using Sunspot theme) but on the Spanish version recent image entries are not clickable to make them bigger. I am well aware that this has been an issue for some time (years) and although I have followed all previous instructions, I am unable to solve the problem. Help please.

This issue is driving me crazy! For over 4 years I have been using the Sunspot theme for all three blogs (see below) and some images are clickable to enlarge and others not. Why is it intermittent?

Note that these instructions are for the WP-Admin editor, so at Posts at this link:

In the new editor the steps are:
1. Add media
2. Upload file and insert.
3. Click on the image in the editor
4. Click the link icon in the editor toolbar
That should auto-populate the link box with the media file link and then you can just click Insert.

some images are clickable to enlarge and others not. Why is it intermittent?
The WP-Admin editor remembers the previously used setting, so if you added an image in that editor and selected a specific setting, all subsequent images you add should use the same setting.
The My Sites editor does not remember this. In that editor you need to click the image, and then click the link icon to add the media file link as I explained above.

Thanks for coming in kokkieth. Up to “2. Upload file and insert.” I’m OK but I cannot use “3. Click on the image in the editor”, I click but nothing happens, not clickable. Something must be missing? What do you mean by “new” editor?

@enriquerikiapperley At the risk of repeating what has already been said………..If you have been using WordPress.com for four years you must have been using the wp-admin editor mostly. Once you have your image in the wp-admin post editor clicking on the image should bring up a new small toolbar. Clicking on the “pencil” icon lefts you do the appropriate editing you require. In the new “My Sites” editor highlighting the image in a post shows a small edit toolbar, but it is the link button in the toolbar above it that you click.
@ Kokkieh I find it odd that if you’re working with images in the “new” “My Sites” dashboard post editor there is no pencil icon in the image toolbar and you have to use the “insert link” button in the other toolbar higher up. This isn’t very intuitive for new users.

@ themagicrobot “Once you have your image in the wp-admin post editor clicking on the image should bring up a new small toolbar”, it does not! That’s the whole point! I cannot get kokkieth’s point 3, i.e. 3. Click on the image in the editor…it just doesn’t work.

Just to confirm, if you insert an image in the editor, and then in the editor still click on the image, you don’t see a small toolbar with options for the image as pictured here?

So you’re unable to select the image at all after you insert it in the editor?
That would point to a browser problem. Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies, and also please check if you have the same problem if you use a different browser.
